Let's get this show on the road!
PARKER BUBBLEGUM
A psychological comedy cartoon about traumatized teens going on mind-bending adventures into their own psyches.
Story
In the cozy seaside town of Aha Harbor, USA, Parker Bubblegum finds herself trying to adapt to a new family dynamic after her half-brother, North, moves in following the sudden death of his parents. Shortly after North's arrival, Parker decides to take some time to decompress at her favorite hang-out spot, "Oddball Island", a small island just off the coast of the town. During this visit, Parker discovers a strange and otherworldly creature whom she serendipitously befriends.
This creature accidentally grants her magical abilities, enabling her to enter the dreams of others, which Parker considers to be more of a burden than a gift. In these dreams, she encounters terrifying creatures that take the form of one's traumas, fears, and worst nightmares.
Follow along as Parker and Co. experience the horrors of their own and each other's mindscapes, building relationships and learning about themselves along the way.
History
Marlowe Peyton first developed the idea for Parker Bubblegum all the way back in 2015, when they were 10 years old.
All of the main characters are autistic. That's just how it be.
In 2018, Peyton released a Parker Bubblegum animated short with a runtime of two minutes. This short film has won several awards at various film festivals, as well as some nominations.
(This short is not available for public viewing as it is extremely outdated.)
While the story of Parker Bubblegum has changed since its inception, the goal remains the same. That is, to make something that Marlowe themself and like-minded people would love. "What aspects are consistently featured throughout my favorite pieces of media?" and "What can I see my younger self watching, enjoying, and relating to?" are questions that Peyton has asked themself a lot during the creation process.
Something that cannot be understated is the passion and love that has been poured into this project over the past nine years.
